Si Sa Ket is one of the most well-known destinations in northeastern Thailand. The ancient civilization in this area is longer than 1,000 years. At that time, Khmer has strong power in the area and there are many tribes migrated and settle down here such as Suai, Laos, Khmer, Yer. |

The town was formerly named "Khu Khan", located near the current Wang Hin area. It became a large town in 1759 of Ayuthay period and its first governer is Luang Kaeo Suwan. The township area was moved to current place in the reign of King Rama V and the name was changed to "Si Sa Ket" in 1938. |
The province is noted for numerous Khmer- styled temples and architectures which are scattered all over the province.
