Ratchaburi is a prosperous ancient city, located in the "Suwannaphum" area which was a part of Davaravati Kingdom that has Nakhon Pathom as a capital. Suwannaphum is the first area that Buddhism was spread out. |

Indian King (Asoke Maharat) had spread Buddhism to Suwannaphum in 218 of Buddhist Era and use Davaravati as a center to spread it out in the area. The township of Ratchaburi was moved to current place in 1897. |
There are many famous attractions in this province such as Wat Khanon Nang Yai, Damnoen Saduak floating market, and many caves which some are housing million of bats.
