In the past, it used to be a mysterious town for Thai people. Among mountains and hills, the town was once isolated from the outside world and lack of good transportation and communication. But now, it is a very famous destination for tourists from all regions of the world. |
This province has many natural resources, ancient historical remains and nice conserved cultures and arts. Some Burmese influences can be seen in the art, because the area is bordering to Myanmar.
The unique style of Thai houses here is called "Ban Thai Yai". It has one or two floors, high basement and its roof is covered by banana leaves. Traditional clothing is called "Tai". Men are wearing pants, look like Chinese's or fishermen's, and long-sleeved shirt with a circle collar. Women are wearing long simple skirt and short cylindered shirt. Local foods and language are also the charms of this province.
