Thai knives
are various in shapes and names. Bung Tor is the biggest one,
for chopping meats or bones. E-to is for tough jobs, such
as peeling coconuts or chopping firewood. Meed Lek is a small
knife for slicing or peeling meats, vegetables, or fruits.

Thai ladles
are named as tuppee, tabuay, and jawak. They are used for
transferring liquids and serving foods. An old Thai saying,
saneh plai jawak, describes a wife who can cook tasty meals
and persuade her husband to stay at home.

pestle are usually made of stone, wood, baked clay or metal.
There are two sizes of mortar. The deep one is for up and
down pounding and flatter one is for grinding. For cooking
Thai foods, modern electric blenders cannot provide the same
results and feelings as using mortar and pestle.

Thai skimmer
is made of bamboo or rice chaff, for cleaning oil or skim
off bits of food from the pan after frying. It is well to
add water in the pan before skimming.
