Sea fishes contain iodine, vitamins,
amino acids, digestible fat and it is less in cholesterol.
They are more favorable than fresh water fishes. Fried Thai
mackerel with chilli paste (nam phrik pla too) is
a well-known menu for Thai people.
Mollusk is a great ingredient for Thai
salad and soup. There are many kind of mollusks such as
mussels (hoy ma-lang phoo), cockles (hoy krang),
a small cockle (hoy lai) and oysters (hoy nang-rom).
Shrimps are
the most favorite seafood for world people, especially Thais.
They can be found in both seas and rivers. Shrimps contain
potassium, vitamins and protein. Thais call lobsters as
dragon shrimps or kung mungkorn, which are
plenty in Southern seas.
Squids
are plenty in Thai seas. Fresh squids are great for grilling,
adding in salads or in spicy soups, as superb seafood menus.
Spicy squid salad (yum pla muek) is a famous menu,
which offers great aroma of lemon and herbs.
